A new study has revealed the UK areas most obsessed with the royal family, with Lincoln topping the list.
The sweepstake casino, Vegas Gems, analyzed the search volume of key terms connected to the royal family, such as ‘William and Kate’ and ‘Buckingham Palace.’ The ranking was then determined by the UK areas with the highest search volumes per 100,000 people.
The study revealed that Lincoln is the most royal-obsessed area in the UK, with the city scoring an average monthly search volume of 17,524 per 100,000 people. Prince William is the most popular royal family member in Lincoln, accounting for 3,148.29 of the city’s monthly searches.
In second place is Bolton, with an average monthly search volume of 16,648 per 100,000 residents. According to the study, King Charles is Bolton’s most popular member of the royal family, accounting for 3,477.65 of the town’s monthly searches.
Croydon is in third place, with an average monthly search volume of 16,477 per 100,000 people. Kate Middleton is Croydon’s most searched-for royal, accounting for 4,513 of the town’s monthly searches.
Bath takes the fourth spot on the list, with an average monthly search volume of 15,766 per 100,000 residents. The study reveals that Kate Middleton is also Bath’s favorite royal, totaling 3,189.51 of the city’s monthly searches.
Manchester places fifth on the list, with 15,079 average monthly searches per 100,000 people. Prince Harry is the third most searched-for royal in the city, contributing to 1,925.97 of the city’s monthly searches.
Next on the list is Norwich, with an average monthly search volume of 14,852 per 100,000 residents. Popular members of the royal family in Norwich include King Charles and Prince William, with searches of 2,539.56, and 2,363.15 respectively.
Peterborough is seventh on the list, with 14,024 average monthly searches per 100,000 people. King Charles is the most searched-for royal in Peterborough, accounting for 2,602.33 of the city’s monthly searches.
Next up is Bournemouth, with 13,788 monthly searches per 100,000 residents. According to the study, Kate Middleton is the most searched-for member of the royal family in Bournemouth, totaling 2,772.51 searches.
Bristol is in ninth place, with an average monthly search volume of 13,662 per 100,000 people. Popular royal family members in Bristol include Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, with searches of 1,861.23 and 950.74 respectively.
Lastly, Wakefield is in tenth place, with an average monthly search volume of 13,273 per 100,000 residents. According to the study, the city frequently searches for King Charles, with 2,463.57 searches, and Kate Middleton, accounting for 2,363.36 searches.
Interestingly, the research found that Oxford is the least royal-obsessed city in the UK. The city has the lowest average monthly search volume of 1,879 per 100,000 people.
The study also revealed that Kate Middleton is the most searched-for member of the royal family in the UK, amassing an average of 1,345,495 monthly searches.

Methodology
- Firstly, a list of initial search terms relating to the royal family was established. The complete list of terms can be found below.
- Then, the monthly average search volume for each term in each city was taken from Google Keyword Planner.
- Once this was complete, each location's monthly average search volume was compared against its population. This established the monthly average searches per 100,000 people, allowing for an accurate comparison of the search rate across locations of differing sizes.
- This final figure was used to sort the locations into the final ranking.
