In a recent study conducted by online casinos comparison service, Casino Alpha, the most influential player on the provisional England squad has been identified.
Using data from Instagram and Influencer Marketing Hub, the study analyses each player’s follow count, average likes per post, average comments per post, and engagement rate, to assign each player a popularity score out of ten.
Ranking as the player with the most Instagram popularity is Jude Bellingham. The Real Madrid midfielder boasts an impressive popularity score of 9.1 out of ten, due to a follow count of 31,500,000 and a whopping average of 3,595,550 likes per post.
Kobbie Mainoo, one of the youngest players on the squad and midfielder for Manchester United, is second in the ranking with a popularity score of 7.9 out of ten.
Cole Palmer – Chelsea midfielder or winger - ranks third for fan engagement with a popularity score of 7.6 out of ten. He has 2.6 million followers, an average of 473,662 likes and 9,564 comments, and an 18.54% engagement rate.
Manchester City heartthrob Jack Grealish is fourth on the list with an overall score of 7.1 out of ten. He has 9.2 million followers, averages 915,170 likes per post, and has an engagement rate of 6.97%.
Ranking in fifth place is Arsenal player, Declan Rice, who secures a popularity score of 7.0 out of ten. Despite having more followers than Kobbie Mainoo and Cole Palmer, Rice is let down by the average likes and comments per post.

On the bottom of the list is Lewis Dunk, who plays for Brighton & Hove Albion, reporting a low popularity score of 1.9 out of ten. The centre-back has 82,900 followers, receives 9,014 likes per post and has a 10% engagement rate.
Aston Villa player Ezri Konsa is second to last in the ranking, with a popularity score of 2.5, while James Trafford is third to last, with a 2.5 popularity score.
Adam Wharton from Crystal Palace is fourth to last, with a popularity score of 2.8 out of ten. He has 43,400 followers, receives 10,130 likes and 175 comments per post, and has an engagement rate of 20.4%.
Fourth to last in the ranking is Newcastle player Kieran Trippier, who finds himself with an average popularity score of just 3.2 out of ten.

Speaking on the findings, a Casino Alpha spokesperson said: "The popularity of England players on Instagram reflects the importance of fan engagement, as these players will receive numerous benefits from their huge online following – including the opportunity to make lucrative sponsorship deals with brands.
“It’ll be interesting to see how the follower counts of the players vary over time, and especially interesting to see which brands are willing to spring for the top endorsement fees as the Euros get underway.”
